We stayed at Villa La Contessina for 3 weeks. From the moment that Anastasia welcomed us at the gates of the villa, we knew that we had come to the right place. We were wonderfully welcomed by Anastasia and her mom Antonietta with a wonderful luncheon of great food and wine. The villa is more beautiful in person and Anastasia takes great care of the upkeep.
The villa is centrally located within walking distance to shops, supermarket, great dining and the beach. Antonietta also invited us to a delicious dinner at the villa that she cooked for us. She is a Wonderful cook, the real Italian food is simple and easy to prepare. We were introduced to some great friends of Anastasia and Antonietta, we loved Fred, Georgia, Pina, Luigi and Filippo.
We are totally in Love with Sorrento and Villa La Contessina, and plan to go back in the near future. Words cannot describe the beauty and the care that you receive from Anastasia and her mom Antonietta. They are truly the most wonderful HOSTS we ever met. We love you Anastasia and Antonietta.
Con affetto Mariolina
Four couples rented this villa for a week in May of 2014. The owner and her mother greeted us at check-in with a four course dinner prepared by the mother. Having rented a number of villas in Italy, this was exceptional. This villa is centrally located in Sorrento so that everything in the city is within walking distance. For those people driving, parking is limited at the villa and very tight through the city. The condition of landscaping, furnishing and equipment was all excellent. A washer with drying racks or a clothes dryer were also provided.
My daughter and I spent 4 nights at this Villa and loved it. The location is fantastic, very safe and very central. The grounds are peaceful and a great refuge after a day out. We looked forward to coming back to our cozy room every afternoon. The place is beautifully decorated , spotless and well equipped. We had our coffee every morning at the nearby cafe or at the outdoor cafe in the park next to the church...a 2 minute walk. Anastasia was gracious and very helpful, and upon checking in, saw to it that we were familiar with our surroundings as well as the local attractions. We did a boat trip to Capri with Andrea (Pasqualino coast to coast) and it was the highlight of our stay. Having done the trip to Capri before by jetboat, this time we opted for an 80 euro day trip on a good sized boat with 10 other people. Andrea took us right around the island and we got off at the smaller marina which was so much calmer than the main one. We had a panini at the local beach (included in the price) then 3 hrs of free time to visit the island (You must go up to Anacapri when you are there). We met up afterwards for a stop at the Blue Grotto then headed home very slowly, stopping here and there for a dip in the sea. Before docking in Sorrento, we stopped the boat for a few moments and Andrea offered his guests a glass on white wine. What a day!! Worth every euro!!! Thank you Andrea. Anastesia will be able to set this up for you if you ask her. It was my 5th time in this beautiful city and thanks to Anastasia, her mom and Andrea I have never felt more at home. BOOK THIS PLACE AND DON'T LOOK BACK.
My group of 11 women stayed at Villa LaContessina last week. After much research and being in constant contact with Anastasia del Vecchio, the lovely owner, who was extremely patient in answering my many questions as they arose, as well as looking at many photos and reviews online, I had an immediate comfort level and she made the entire process a breeze.
When we arrived from Rome, she was standing at the gate, waiting to greet us with a big smile and warm hugs. We immediately felt at home. The property is immaculate and even more beautiful in person. The location to shopping, restaurants, the park, lift to the beach, churches, etc., is just within a few blocks of the property. However, once you step through the gates to the villa, the transformation to a peaceful, lovely oasis takes over and you are in a different world.
As soon as we stepped inside and put our luggage down, we were served an amazing welcome buffet, which was prepared by Antoinetta, Anastasia's lovely mother. The food and wine were a very welcome treat after a long ride from Rome and we were all very appreciative of the time, effort, care and love that was put into our "feast."
Anastasia was always available for questions, problems (we had none!) and more than happy to arrange for car transfers, tours, or whatever anyone needed. She is the perfect hostess and I would recommend Villa La Contessina to anyone who is looking for the perfect place in Sorrento! I hope to return one day and stay here again. No more research needed for me. I now have a home and wonderful friend in Sorrento.
Grazie mille, Anastasia and Antoinetta!
With love, Margie
We were a group of 5 friends looking for a central location in Sorrento. This couldn't have filled the bill more perfectly. Two of us shared a room, the rest had our own and were delighted with the facilities and the location. Each room has its own bathroom and shower, two also share a beautiful second floor balcony. From the wonderful welcome with a feast that lasted us through 3 days, the quick response to every question we had and the lovely quiet location, it truly was a perfect spot. The photos really don't do this place justice. Lemon and mandarin orange trees shade the deck, a beautiful grassy lawn is the perfect spot for an afternoon siesta, and when you're feeling energetic, break out the table tennis paddles for a game under the large umbrella on the deck. Anastasia, her mother and Berta (who arranged the villa for us) are all wonderful to deal with. We're already looking for excuses to go back!
Imagine booking a place over the internet to house your entire family for your destination wedding in Sorrento, Italy with only a few pictures to some blind faith. Then imagine showing up and walking into a beautiful oasis that not only met your expectations, but redefined what it means to be on vacation. We spent an entire week and could not have been happier.
Villa La Contessina was everything we could have ever hoped it could have been for our family's stay in Sorrento. Just steps away from the beach, a quick walk to the port and two blocks from all the shopping you could ever hope for, Villa La Contessina was simply perfect. Anastasia, the Villa owner and her mother are the sweetest people in the world and they went out of their way to make sure our every need was met while we were there.
Our family made hundreds of memories in the astoundingly beautiful courtyard, drinking wine and enjoying salumi over conversation. When we return to Sorrento one anniversary in the future, you better believe we will be calling Anastasia and booking again.
Villa la Contessina was our highlight of our month long trip! We rented the entire villa and when we arrived we were greeted by Anastasia and her mother who had prepared an amazing Italian dinner for all of us! I had read all the reviews and looked at all the pictures and just hoped I had found a good spot for our large group but I never imagined it would be as outstanding as it was; the most lovely and helpful host, the best location in Sorrento, and a beautiful villa and garden to relax. Sorrento is one of my favorite towns in Italy to vacation and we will never stay anywhere else. Honestly, if you ever have a chance to stay there DO, you will fall in love with it too!
stayed in this hotel with my mother for 4 nights in july 2012 and we had an amazing experience. The lodging itself was very charming and spotless. The rooms were clean and cozy and the owner was very sweet and helpful. The location was fantastic! Right in the heart of sorrento! It was in easy walking distance from the train station, which allowed us to visit Pompei and Naples. It was also close to the port, where we were able to board a ferry to Capri. I would stay here again without hesitation and would highly recommend it to others.
I can't believe how long it's taken me to write this! My family and I (eight of us in all) stayed at Villa La Contessina over Christmas this year (2012). The location in Sorrento could not have been more perfect. It was centrally located in town and allowed us to walk to all of the historic and shopping areas. It was also a perfect location to get to the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Naples and Pompei for day trips. The house was absolutely beautiful and the four bedrooms with individual bathrooms was perfect for two couples and our children. The kitchen was very well equipped and allowed us to cook our meals several nights during our stay when we weren't eating out at the wonderful local restaurants. The town itself was perfect for a laid back yet fun vacation during the holidays. We even felt comfortable enough for our teenage children to venture out on their own during the evenings! Contrary to locations in the US, we had multiple choices for dinner and lunch even on Christmas eve and day. I would love to come back when the weather is warm and enjoy the beautiful beaches in this part of Italy. As it was, even in December the weather was very nice and we were able to sit on the beautiful veranda and eat oranges picked from the garden for breakfast. Now for the best part.....Anastasia and her mother were incredible. Anastasia speaks English very well and helped us navigate our way from the US to Rome and then to the Villa. She sent us information ahead of time about where to eat and locations to visit to help plan our trip. When we arrived, after a very long plane trip and an exhausting drive from Rome (holiday traffic), she and her mother were at the Villa with an Italian buffet and a much needed chilled Limoncello. Anastasia's mother had also decorated the house for Christmas and made us feel right at home. I hated to leave and I can't wait to go back. Thank you, thank you Anastasia! I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Villa La Contessina again.
What a beautiful villa we were lucky to find in Sorrento. This villa had four bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Three bathrooms had walk-in showers, and one bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. Two of the bedrooms had doors leading out to a lovely terrace. An elevator took you up to the second floor where the bedrooms were located. The main level of the villa had an eat-in kitchen, fully equipped, a dining room, living room with flat screen TV, a bathroom with another walk-in shower, and outside a beautiful huge garden area with louge chairs and a big outside dining table under a portico. The location of the villa was ideal, on a quiet street, but within a 1 minute walk to the Piazza San Antonnino, and a 3 minute walk to the larger Piazza Tasso. All the shops and restaurants are within a 5 minute walk. It was also that close to the Villa Comunale with magnificent views of the Marina Piccolo and an elevator down to the ferry to Capri and Naples, and the beach which was clean and lovely with a great restaurant at Leonelli's. The owner, Anastasia, was wonderful and accommodating, and responded immediately whenever we needed anything, and her wonderful mother prepared such a beautiful spread of food to serve us when we arrived. We were so surprised and so grateful after our long flight, and the food was absolutely delicious. We were 4 couples and we all felt we could not have found a better place to spend our two weeks in Sorrento. We would highly recommend the Villa La Contessina and will definitely use it again and again if we go back to Sorrento.
We loved this beautiful villa high up on the cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples. It was the perfect size for our two families, a group of 7 traveling together. We loved it so much that we wished we could have spent more time in it enjoying the very private and peaceful garden just steps away from "downtown" Sorrento. We were there in March so it was too windy and chilly to dine al fresco which would have been a real treat, but gives us an excuse to have to go back! Anastasia could not have been more accommodating providing us with maps and lists of recommended restaurants. Don't be afraid to eat in either. After a long day touring a little pasta in the perfectly appointed kitchen can really hit the spot. One word of caution about the in-room safes. They can be tricky to operate and Anastasia had to help us rescue the stuff we put in them. Follow her instructions carefully during her orientation tour! One final word of note, we were a group of 7 who were gone all day and only home in the evenings. We turned off all electricity (even the heat) while we were away and only heated the upstairs at night when needed. We did a total of about 4 loads of laundry while we were there and incurred an extra charge of 30 Euro for electricity (Approximately $40 US) on a 4 day stay. I only say this as a point of reference because we had no idea how much electricity 150 kwh would be when we checked in and that is what is included in the contract. We would definitely recommend the Villa La Contessina. I can still hear those beautiful church bells ringing in the new day!
My family and friends recently stayed at Villa La Contessina in Sorrento from May 5-12, 2012. We had seen pictures of the villa prior to our trip and when we arrived there it was every bit like the pictures and more. It was located right in downtown Sorrento yet we had complete privacy because of the gated entrance and the tall bushes that blocked out anyone who passed by from looking into the garden and patio area. Every morning we walked to the corner shop and had our cafe latte or cappucino. We could walk to any other part of town as well and being close to the waterfront it was easy for us to enjoy lunch there or hop one of the boats over to the isle of Capri. Anastasia the owner could not have been nicer. Although we weren't expecting anything when we arrived Anastasia put out a beautiful lunch for us at her own expense and gave us a very warm welcome. With its location and amenities I would wholeheartedly recommend this villa to anyone looking to plan a trip to Sorrento. It was THE PERFECT SPOT!
